One really lovely place just 10 min away from Mahon by boat. Very interesting 2 small galleries and nice outside spaces. The buling with the old hospital is very intense as well. There is a restaurant with amazing food and service. The trip to this little island was worth it
Great place to spend a few hours with lots to see. A short ferry trip to the Isle de Rei from Mahon. The art gallery and hospital are free to explore at leisure or you can book a free informative guided tour to either one. There's also a shop and lovely restaurant with tables outdoors under the olive trees. The food and service were excellent.
Wonderful excursion from Mahón, even if you aren't interested in the art. Delightful boat trip, beautiful grounds and great food in the restaurant.
I visited the exhibition on the island for the first time this year and I was absolutely blown away by the location. It has been renovated with such good taste and style, the booking of the boat was super easy and cheap. Also the exhibition itself was amazing and the staff of Hauser & Wirth was very helpful and professional.
There is a restaurant located on the island too, a bit pricey and with not enough veggie options on the menu for my taste but the ambiance was lovely and the drinks very good.
Can’t wait for my next visit!
A really incredible exhibition, not only is the art amazing but so is the gardens and architecture. A 7€ boat trip and the exhibition is free. I highly recommend visiting! The only down side I’d say is the gift shop, it’s got some interesting stuff but it’s really expensive and I feel as if a lot of people who visit are priced out especially as most people are only looking for a cheap souvenir.
Great location, exceptionally good mussels and generally top food.
The setting is beautiful.
When you are looking for an alternative plan to the beach or swimming scene in Menorca, this is a must see. A an easy 15 minute ride from the port in Mahon (costing 7 euros round trip and includes access to the exhibit on the island) takes you to the island. Currently (until Nov I think) they have a Rashid Johnson exhibit which is beautiful to see. We had a free guided tour lasting about 40 minutes with Rosa and she took us around and explained everything. Fantastic and fun! Thanks, Rosa. You don’t need to book this in advance, it’s free and you’ll see her at the top of the hill once you’ve gotten off the boat. The hospital and its history are fascinating. They have a beautiful shop as well but it’s quite pricey. I definitely recommend this stop while in Mahon. We took the the 5pm ferry and returned catching the 6:30 pm ferry. The outbound boat leaves every hour on the hour and the boat from the island back over leaves every hour on the half hour. Thanks for an awesome visit!
We visited not long after the centre opened and there is still some renovation work happening around the island but we had a lovely visit nonetheless. The gardens already look great and the galleries are a perfect setting for the art on display. We ate at the restaurant and the food and service were superb. We got a table easily without a reservation. You can also buy drinks and snacks at the outdoor bar. So many lizards, which were delightful to see.
